Lissy and Rudi create joy for Park(ing) Day 2018

Lissy and Rudi create joy for Park(ing) Day 2018

Park(ing) Day 2018, September 21st
Māngere Town Centre carpark.

Rudi and Lissy Cole want to bring JOY, colour, fun and vibrancy to what normally is a joyless space.. carparks! With their unique take on carving, crocheting and creativity Park(ing) Day 2018 is going BOLD! Be there or be square says Lissy!

Park(ing) Day is an annual worldwide event where artists, designers and citizens transform metered parking spots into temporary public places. Since 2005 this tactical / guerrilla urbanism movement has not only successfully communicated the importance of quality public space to the masses but also resulted in permanent replacement of car parks with public parks.

You’ve heard of, or had the luck of meeting Lissy Cole (Lissy Cole Designs) when she undertook a series of crochet installations around Ōtāhuhu, called THE JOY PROJECT. We’re now really excited to bring Lissy and her husband Rudi to Māngere for Park(ing) Day! The images below are the crochet artworks they’re both busy creating in preparation! WOW!!

Follow the Facebook event for updates and to “share” the joy - and see you all on 21st Sept!
Follow the Park(ing) Day Auckland Branch on Facebook, or even better, “google” Park(ing) Day to view the many cities and towns across the globe who will be taking part.
